The Investment Banking and Capital Markets legal team provides legal services related to Truist Securities’ investment banking business, including debt and equity capital markets, M&A advisory, equity and fixed income sales and trading, and equity research. Maintain strong, productive relationships with key internal clients while serving as a trusted legal advisor, legal risk manager, and business partner. Serve as a subject matter expert in support of Truist’s Investment Banking and Capital Markets line of business, with a particular focus on securities and M&A advisory.This position requires in-office presence and may be based in Charlotte, NC; Washington, DC; Chicago, IL; or Atlanta, GA. Remote work is not available.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESFollowing is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Provide significant internal client legal support day to day 2. Responsible for assessing legal risk, providing legal advice, and/or assisting in resolving legal problems which may represent potential exposure to the company.3. Keeps abreast of legislation, regulations, and case law developments that affect the company and the banking industry in area of practice.4. May prepare and/or review documents and other instruments, represent the company in transactions, perform legal research and analysis, and maintain files and records5. Identify need for and when necessary, select, engage, and direct outside counsel to undertake specific matters. 6. Serve as an individual contributor but may provide ad hoc work direction and supervision to other legal staff regarding support on active cases or projects.QUALIFICATIONSRequired Qualifications:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school and licensed to practice law in good standing2. Eight years of post-bar experience in a law firm, government, and/or corporate settings.3. Possess superior written and verbal communication skills4. Ability to prioritize matters, utilize time management skills, and move between matters fluidly5. Ability to handle a heavy workload, manage stress effectively and meet critical deadlines6. Able to work autonomously without close supervision7. Team-oriented mentality and excellent interpersonal skills8. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software productsPreferred Qualifications:1. Corporate securities experience at a large law firm, with substantial experience in equity capital markets2. Some experience with M&A3. Comfortable working in the entrepreneurial environment of a large, complex corporationThe annual base salary for this position is $192,000 - $230,000.
